Note

interprocess communication defined in Pilot with optimization if source and target on same machine. Defines internetwork routers which store and forward message packets. Defines sockets as the message mailbox. The socket number is part of the address along with machine and network identifiers. Communication channels between addresses set up by Network Streams. Similar to Pup Byte stream protocol and Arpa Transmission Control Protocol.
