Quotation
Is it possible to find any judgment of sensation concerning which all sentient beings whose opinion can be ascertained are always and absolutely in agreement? ... I believe there are at least three groups of such judgments [that are free of contradictions]: (1) Judgments of simultaneity, consecutiveness and "betweeness" in time ... such as, The event A happened at the same time as B, or A happened between B and C. (2) Judgments of coincidence or "betweeness" in space. (3) Judgments of number, such as, The number of the group A is equal to, greater than or less than, the number of the group B. ... It appears almost inconceivable to us that anyone could judge that B happens between A and C when we judge that A happens between B and C, or that anyone could judge that A is coincident in space with B when we judge that it is separated from it.
