Quotation
science starts by selecting for its consideration those judgments alone concerning which absolutely universal agreement can be obtained, rejecting unhesitatingly any concerning which there can be any doubt or any personal opinion; that at every stage of the reasoning to which it submits these judgments a personal element is introduced and with it the possibility of error and of difference of opinion; and that its final results, those which represent its greatest achievements and possess the greatest intellectual value, are almost as individual and as personal as the greatest achievements of art.
