Summary

Process control languages provide instructions specifically for real-time control. They can be software implementations of engineering techniques such as boolean equations or ladder diagrams, modifications of existing high level languages such as ISA's FORTRAN control subroutines, real time Basic, or languages developed specifically for control such as CONTROL or Forth. Assembly language is frequently used. (cbb 5/80)
