Summary

Industrial users do not want to program in terms of operations provided by a programming system. Instead they want fixed program units written specifically for an application. The program units may be parameterized and interconnected. They usually correspond to physical devices or well known functions. By using standard components, development is rapid, reliability enhanced, and programs are portable. There's just less to learn before using the software. (cbb 5/80)
